9 People, Including 3 Children Severely Injured In Quetta Blast

Earlier this week, on Wednesday, nine people, including a traffic policeman and three children, were injured in a blast on Quetta’s Zarghoon Road. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jawad Tariq confirmed the number of injured and said that explosive material was planted in a heap of trash that had been lying for some time.

How it happened?

The explosion occurred when some kids were picking trash and sifting through the garbage. A high-profile investigation team has been assigned to declare findings at the earliest. The head of the Quetta Trauma Centre, Dr Arbab Kamran, said that the injured were shifted to Civil Hospital. He further added that two people were in critical condition.

The province is also in a pretty remote location, which makes it easier for terrorists to stay hidden there. After they were pushed out of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) in military operations, they found a way through Kandahar in Afghanistan into Baluchistan.

Gen. Talat Masood, a retired major-general, shares his view on the issue saying that Pakistan could not manage its borders with Afghanistan and Iran adjoining Baluchistan, which is why the corrupt minds find it easy to travel back and forth and conduct attacks.

The government of Pakistan has seen resistance from the tribes of Baluchistan since the country came into existence following the partition in 1947. Many locals believe their province was forcibly incorporated into the new state of Pakistan. The Khan of Kalat, the ruler of the Baluch coastal state of Kalat, rose in revolt at the time of partition, blazing off a series of insurgencies in the province.
