2:40 AM: In the late hours of last night, Rawalpindi police arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s senior leader Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad from a private housing society in Islamabad. A case has been registered against him at Aabpara Police Station of the federal capital.
Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad’s claims regarding Asif Ali Zardari
As per the official media reports, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad’s arrest came a few days after he made a controversial remark at a talk show regarding opposition leader Asif Ali Zardari. The party leader claimed that Zardari along with others was involved in the assassination attempt of PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
News of Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad’s arrest was confirmed by his nephew Rashid Shafiq. Soon after the news of Ahmad’s arrest broke out, PTI Chairman Imran Khan condemned the arrest and called the incumbent government ‘biased and vindictive’.

As of now, local media outlets have started sharing exclusive images and videos of Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad’s arrest. Speaking for the first time after getting detained, Ahmad told the media that the current Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan is behind all the arrests and chaos.
“Rana Sanaullah is behind all the arrests and the widespread chaos. Whatever is happening, it is a sign of oppression. God willing I’ll keep standing with Imran Khan”
Last week, another senior leader of PTI, Fawad Chaudhry was arrested by Islamabad police but was recently released on the orders of the court.
