A religious scholar, Saleem Khatri, was assassinated near his home in Karachi by four unidentified attackers on a motorcycle. Khatri, a leader of Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal-Jamaat and provincial legal advisor, sustained five bullet injuries and was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital but did not survive.
As per SSP Central Maroof Usman, the deceased religious scholar was sitting at a local shop near his residence in New Karachi Sector 5G when the suspects targeted him. Police are investigating the incidents for possible motives, including targeted killing, sectarian killing, or personal enmity.

Reportedly, this is the second assassination of a religious personality within two days. The incident follows the killing of Mufti Abdul Qayum, 45, associated with the Sunni Ulema Council, by unidentified men on a motorcycle in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area the previous day.
