Pakistan To Privatize Loss-Making National Carrier PIA & Outsource Airport Operations

Pakistan has unveiled plans to privatize its struggling national airline, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), in a move aligned with the country’s broader efforts to enhance economic efficiency. The decision was announced on Monday after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee of Privatization, led by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.

Just another IMF condition

The move to privatize PIA comes as part of Pakistan’s commitment to an International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreement. Alongside this decision, the government is also considering outsourcing its airport operations to streamline services and improve overall efficiency.
