Islamabad’s First Anti-Rape Crisis Cell Established At PIMS To Support The Victims

In response to the escalating rate of sexual assault cases across the country, the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences has taken a firm stand by establishing the first anti-rape crisis cell (ARCC) in Islamabad. This initiative also aims to streamline the processes related to any medical institution.

A huge step for the survivors

British High Commissioner Jane Marriot together with Chairperson for the Special Committee on Anti-Rape Law and National Commission on Rights of Child, Ayesha Raza Farooq, on Monday inaugurated the Anti-Rape Crises Cell of Islamabad established at PIMS for survivors of sexual violence.

This new anti-rape crisis facility will ensure that gender-based violence survivors are provided with quicker response services under one roof. The UK is proud to partner with Pakistan in advancing such important innovations for tackling violence, said British HC Jane Marriot.

Numerous incidents have shaken Pakistan to the core in the past years such as the most highlighted Zainab murder case and Islamabad Highway abuse case. Several influential campaigns started running on social media for months but unfortunately, the cases kept delaying due to irrational reasons including the deficiency of proper procedure which helps declare the justified result.

Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences abbreviated as PIMS, is a research-oriented health sciences institute located in Islamabad. Although the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) has topped the list of public sector hospitals in the country, it is in seventh position in the overall list of Pakistan’s hospitals.
