After Zaka Ashraf’s Resignation, Shah Khawar Takes Over As Interim PCB Chairman

Earlier this week, in Lahore, Shah Khawar, an advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan took charge as the interim chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The major shift in management came after the former chief Zaka Ashraf earlier resigned from the post.

Caretaker PM accepts Zaka Ashraf’s resignation

As per local media reports, Zaka Ashraf’s resignation was accepted by PCB’s patron-in-chief and Pakistan’s caretaker Prime Minister, Anwar ul Haq Kakar. On the matter, Kakar stated, “My primary responsibility will be to hold the election of Chairman PCB in a free and transparent manner at the earliest”.

It must be noted that the new PCB chief Shah Khawar also served as the former election commissioner of the Cricket Board. After the resignation of Zaka Ashraf, PM Anwaarul Haq Kakar initially nominated Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi for the role of PCB head.

As of now, Shah Khawar has assumed charge as the new chairman until the board elections take place. Meanwhile, CM Punjab Mohsin Naqvi will fulfill his duties as a governing body member of PCB. Shah Khawar, who is also the Election Commissioner of PCB, will oversee the upcoming Cricket Board elections with Mohsin Naqvi contesting for the position of chairman PCB.
