In a rare agreement, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) have joined hands to register a country-wide protest against the alleged rigging of the February 8 polls. The two parties denounced the election results, saying the authorities violated the people’s right to vote and choose their representatives.

PTI  and JUI-F unite against unfair polls

The two parties’ leadership met recently to discuss the prevailing political situation in the country. During the meeting, they agreed to launch a joint protest against the results. Speaker of National Assembly Asad Qaiser led the PTI’s delegation, while JUI-F’s leader Hafiz Hamdullah represented his party.

Speaking to the media, Hafiz Hamdullah said that both parties share the same stance on the issue of unfair elections. He added that the JUI-F welcomes PTI’s decision to launch a country-wide protest and said that the two parties have a “joint point” on which they are united.

The unexpected decision of the two parties to join hands for the protest can impact the country’s political landscape. The move is likely to pressure Pakistan’s government and the Election Commission to address the people’s concerns and ensure the upcoming elections are free, fair, and transparent.

The joint protest by the PTI and JUI-F also sends a clear message to other political parties that the issue of fair elections is not limited to a single party or group. It is a concern that affects every Pakistani, and the people want their voices to be heard.
