Government Bans Petrol Motorcycles, Promotes Transition To Electric Bikes

Islamabad is set to embrace a greener future as the federal government enacts a ban on the purchase of petrol-powered motorcycles within the capital city. This bold initiative was announced by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi during a meeting with the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Friday.

The decision aims to combat environmental pollution and transform Islamabad into a world-class city. The CDA will be directed to procure only electric bikes for future use, paving the way for a cleaner and more sustainable transportation system. Additionally, eco-friendly electric buses will be introduced to enhance public transportation options for citizens.

The meeting also addressed progress on various development projects in Islamabad. These include the refurbishment of the Federal Secretariat, upgrades to the Diplomatic Enclave, and the implementation of smart parking solutions.

Furthermore, emergency services in the city will be revamped to meet international standards. Responsibilities for these services will be transferred from the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) to the CDA.

Minister Naqvi also announced the imminent launch of construction work on the Serena Chowk underpass and the F-9 Park Chowk flyover projects.

Positive developments were reported on the long-stalled Islamabad Model Jail project, with the first phase expected to be completed on schedule. Additionally, land allotment for the construction of a Health Tower in the H-16 sector has been finalized.
