Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has unveiled a series of ambitious projects aimed at revitalizing Lahore. During her first visit to the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) headquarters, she approved several initiatives to improve traffic flow, beautify the city, and boost revenue generation.

One of the most significant announcements is the launch of Lahore’s first tram service. The tram will operate in key areas like Liberty, Main Market, Mini Market, and Hali Road, potentially easing traffic congestion and offering a more sustainable mode of transportation.

Furthermore, CM Sharif greenlit the “Karim Block to Motorway Signal Free Corridor Plan.” This plan seeks to construct two underpasses along a six-lane road leading from Karim Block to the motorway, aiming to improve traffic flow and reduce commute times.

The beautification of the city is also a top priority for the new administration. CM Sharif approved the remodeling and beautification of MM Alam Road and the development and rehabilitation of Gulberg and its surrounding areas. Uniform roads and the installation of tuff tiles are planned for these areas.

Revenue generation is another critical focus. CM Sharif has set a target of Rs.46 billion for the LDA and directed a review of all illegal housing schemes in Lahore. Each scheme will be assessed for potential legalization. Additionally, the commercialization of specific roads within the city was approved.

The meeting also addressed the completion of sports complexes at Minar-e-Pakistan and China Scheme. Additionally, special attention will be given to the development of LDA City.
