Kenyan High Court Awards Rs.21.7 Million As Compensation To Slain Arshad Sharif’s Family

A Kenyan court has awarded 10 million Kenyan shillings (approximately 21.7m PKR or $78,000) to the family of slain Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif, who was shot dead by police officers in October 2022.

Justice Stella Mutuku of the Kajiado High Court ruled that the use of lethal force against Sharif by Kenyan police was unlawful and unconstitutional. Sharif, a prominent journalist who had fled Pakistan, was reportedly killed in a case of “mistaken identity.”
