Crown Prince MBS Faces Assassination Threat Over Saudi-Israel Normalisation Effort

Source: Google

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) has alerted members of the US Congress about the potential risks to his life due to his efforts to normalize relations with Israel, according to a report by Politico.

The Crown Prince, comparing his situation to that of Egyptian leader Anwar Sadat—who was assassinated after making peace with Israel—questioned what the US did to protect Sadat. MBS emphasized that any normalization deal with Israel should include a clear path to a Palestinian state, especially given the rising Arab anger over the Gaza war.

The discussions were disclosed to Politico by a former US official and two other individuals familiar with the talks. Despite the threats, MBS remains committed to pursuing the deal, viewing it as crucial for Saudi Arabia’s future.

However, Israel has reportedly been reluctant to include a credible path to a Palestinian state in the agreement, complicating the negotiations and adding to the challenges MBS faces in this high-stakes diplomatic endeavor.
