In a heartwarming event in Mukurweini, Kenya, a 95-year-old man married his 90-year-old long-time love more than sixty years after they first met. The couple, who fell in love in 1960, decided to have a church wedding despite being legally married under their Kikuyu customs.
“We thought it would be wonderful to have a white wedding,” said the groom, Mbogo, outside the church. For the ceremony, he wore a grey suit and silver tie, while his bride, Wangui, looked elegant in a white hat and cream brocade jacket.
Reflecting on the longevity of their relationship, Wangui shared her wisdom: “Women, you must respect your husbands. If you do that, you will live as we have. Don’t do any wrong, and if you do, just apologize and seek forgiveness.”
