Several British MPs have endorsed Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, for the role of Chancellor at Oxford University. Conservative peer Lord Daniel Hannan, alongside independent MPs Shockat Adam and Adnan Hussain, have expressed their support, praising Khan’s achievements in philanthropy, sports, and politics.

The role of Chancellor at Oxford is highly prestigious, previously held by figures like Oliver Cromwell and former British Prime Minister Harold Macmillan. Khan, who studied at Oxford, is running against notable candidates, including Peter Mandelson, a former advisor to Prime Minister Tony Blair, and William Hague, who served as Foreign Secretary under David Cameron.

Unlike his rivals, Khan is campaigning from prison in Pakistan, where he is serving a 10-year sentence for allegedly leaking state secrets. The United Nations has called for his release, stating his detention violates international law. The election for the Oxford Chancellorship will take place in late October, with votes cast by Oxford members and graduates.
