Ghotki-Based Artist Reclaims ‘Lost’ Paintings From Frere Hall After TV Drama Revelation

In a recent development, Ghotki-based artist Seffy Soomro has successfully recovered his paintings, which were thought to be lost for seven years, from Frere Hall, Karachi. This victory comes after a heartfelt social media campaign that prompted the Sindh government to take swift action.

In an emotional video posted on Facebook, Soomro shared his joy while holding the recovered artwork. “I am at Frere Hall, I was supposed to get my paintings today. You can see I am here, and I have successfully recovered my paintings”, he said, visibly moved by the moment.

Soomro expressed deep gratitude to his supporters, acknowledging their role in amplifying his voice and pressuring authorities. “It was their support that made this outcome possible”, he said. He further revealed that he has requested a royalty fee from Frere Hall for the unauthorised use of his artwork at various events and TV dramas.

Soomro originally sent his paintings for an exhibition at Frere Hall in 2017, but they were reported lost. In a surprising twist, he spotted his artwork in 2024 during an episode of the popular TV show Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum, leading to the eventual recovery.
