The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) arrested a Brazilian woman at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, for smuggling 1.396 kilograms of cocaine valued at Rs13.9 million. The arrest took place during a routine operation on Thursday as the woman arrived on a private airline flight.
According to ANF officials, the narcotics were skillfully hidden in plastic bags to evade detection. The accused has been booked under the Anti-Narcotics Act, and further investigations are underway.
This arrest follows a similar incident in October when a passenger, Iqbal Hussain, was apprehended at Peshawar Airport for attempting to smuggle 1.210 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (ICE) to Jeddah. The drugs were cleverly concealed within the inner layers of his luggage and sweets packaging.
In both cases, airport security successfully detected the drugs during luggage inspections, preventing smuggling attempts. The arrested individuals and the recovered narcotics have been handed over to the ANF for legal proceedings.
