BCCI Considers PCB’s ‘Fusion Formula’ for Champions Trophy 2025

Source: Khel Now

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly leaning toward accepting the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) proposed “fusion formula” for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This arrangement seeks to resolve tensions regarding India’s participation in the Pakistan-hosted tournament.

The proposal, introduced by the PCB last week, allows India to play its matches at a neutral venue, with Dubai being the suggested location. In return, the PCB seeks a similar arrangement for future ICC events hosted in India. This compromise aims to ensure participation from both nations while maintaining diplomatic sensitivities.

According to reports, a key breakthrough occurred on Thursday evening following a delayed meeting between the two boards. By late night, sources confirmed that the BCCI had reached an informal consensus to adopt the formula. If finalized, the Champions Trophy will be jointly held in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The agreement is likely to extend to ICC events through 2027, including the Women’s ODI World Cup in India in 2024 and the Men’s T20 World Cup in 2026. A final decision is expected within 48 hours, as the ICC Board convenes on December 7.

This resolution marks a significant step in addressing longstanding cricketing disputes between the two nations.
