The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has announced February 6, 2025, as the hearing date for a petition challenging the ban on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) in Pakistan. Chief Justice Aamir Farooq will hear the case.
This petition has experienced multiple delays since its initial hearing on April 17, 2024. Earlier hearings, planned for May 2 and June 11, 2024, were postponed, leaving the case unresolved for months.
In a recent development, a miscellaneous application for an early hearing was filed and subsequently accepted by the IHC on November 22, 2024. Responding to the application, Chief Justice Aamir Farooq instructed the court to schedule the hearing after the winter break. The Registrar’s Office later confirmed February 6 as the new date.
