In recent news, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has issued an apology following backlash over a social media post celebrating the resumption of flights to Europe. The controversial post featured an image of a plane heading toward the iconic Eiffel Tower, accompanied by the caption, “Paris, we’re coming today.”
The post drew criticism online, with thousands of users likening it to the tragic events of 9/11. Negative comments flooded PIA’s official X handle, as many found the imagery insensitive. Responding to the outrage, PIA spokesperson Abdullah Khan explained that the post was not intended to convey any harmful connotations.

“Unfortunately, this was blown out of proportion with connotations that were not intended,” he clarified, adding that the post received 60,000 to 70,000 negative reactions, amounting to less than 10% of total engagement.
Moreover, PIA reiterated its regret, emphasizing its commitment to maintaining sensitivity in future communications.
