A noticeable incident happened in France when two activists from a private NGO visited the Palace and threw a bowl full of soup on the painting of the ‘Mona Lisa’. Sources said it occurred in protest to express the right to demand ‘healthy and sustainable food.’

Mona Lisa painting, targeted again!

The video of the incident is going viral on social media with images in different newspapers. It shows two women with the word ‘FOOD RIPOSTE’ printed on their shirts. Then they pass the security barrier and throw soup at the glass protecting Leonardo da Vinci’s painting of the Mona Lisa.

“What is more important, a painting or healthy or sustainable food? Our farmers are dying at work, and our system is sick”, shouted the activist.

The group in question is named Alimentaire in French, meaning “Food Retaliation”. It represents a group advocating policies under the climate change situation and taking action to counter its harmful effects on agriculture.

As it was publicized recently on the NGO’s website, the Government of France is breaking out its commitments made on account of a better healthcare policy to provide better income to the farmers. However, the police later arrested the two activists who tried to sabotage the famous Mona Lisa Painting.

This is not the first time the great Mona Lisa Painting has been targeted in protest. Two years back, an old lady in a wheelchair brought a cake to the museum and threw it on the painting. As per the French media reports, the government is trying to negotiate with the farmers but no solution has yet been found.
