Amazon Inc. Fires 9,000 Employees In Second Round, Total Number Of Layoffs Highest In History

According to recent reports, Amazon Inc. is set to let go of an additional 9,000 employees, which will mark the highest number of layoffs in the company’s history.

The layoffs are expected to affect a wide range of employees, from software engineers to marketing specialists. Despite the layoffs, Amazon has stated that it will be hiring for new positions in its core businesses.

Message from the CEO

CEO Andy Jassy has stated that the layoffs will primarily affect units such as Amazon Web Services, human resources, advertising, and the Twitch live streaming service. The internal announcement was made on Monday, indicating the company’s plans for a restructuring effort that will allow Amazon to focus on its core businesses, such as e-commerce and cloud computing.
