In a bold move, a formal request for the establishment of Pakistan’s first gay club, named ‘Lorenzo Gay Club,’ has been made to the office of Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad. Preetum Giani, the applicant, emphasizes the need for a safe space where individuals of all sexual orientations can socialize without fear of discrimination or persecution.
The club, if approved, would serve as a venue for LGBTQ individuals to meet, converse, and enjoy light refreshments, with strict rules against engaging in sexual activities other than kissing. Giani argues that such a club is a matter of basic human rights, aligned with the freedom of association enshrined in Pakistan’s constitution.

However, the application’s viral spread on social media has ignited a new debate, particularly in the conservative Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region. While the proposal signals a step towards greater inclusivity, the response from the DC Abbottabad office remains uncertain, leaving the fate of the club hanging in the balance.
