Pakistan’s hopes of bagging a medal at the upcoming Paris Olympics 2024 suffered a major blow as the country’s star athlete, Arshad Nadeem, revealed that his only javelin has been damaged beyond repair. The 27-year-old javelin thrower, who is Pakistan’s sole hope for a medal in the prestigious event, disclosed that the javelin he possesses is no longer of world-class quality due to extensive use.

Javelin “breaks” beyond repair

Arshad Nadeem, who is the national record holder for javelin throw, said that he and his coach are working with the federation to procure a new javelin before the Olympics begin in August. However, the cost of a world-class javelin is estimated to be between 7 to 8 lakhs, making it a significant financial burden for the athlete and his team.
