The Indian cricket team has decided not to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023 matches. Instead, the much-anticipated clash between the arch-rivals will take place in Dambulla, Sri Lanka.

BCCI Treasurer Arun Dhumal, who is attending ICC meetings in Durban, confirmed that the Asia Cup schedule has been finalized. Dhumal further revealed that BCCI Secretary Jay Shah had a meeting with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Zaka Ashraf to discuss matters related to the tournament.
He stated that there will be four league-stage games in Pakistan, followed by nine games in Sri Lanka, including the highly anticipated India versus Pakistan match and a potential final. Further, Dhumal dismissed the spreading rumors and reiterated that the India-Pakistan match is likely to be held in Dambulla, just like in the 2010 edition.

Pakistan’s only home game will be against Nepal, while the other matches include Afghanistan versus Bangladesh, Bangladesh versus Sri Lanka, and Sri Lanka versus Afghanistan. The matches in Pakistan are expected to be held in Lahore. The Asia Cup 2023 is scheduled to take place from August 31 to September 17, adopting the hybrid model as announced by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
