Further investigations revealed that the Arabic letters on the dress were part of a design from a Kuwaiti brand, emphasizing that they were not Quranic verses. When the brand designer was asked what those words actually meant, she explained that they meant “Life & Beautiful”. The incident ignited a debate on social media, with contrasting opinions on religious sensitivity and the need for a more tolerant society.
While some commended ASP Naqvi for her decisive actions, highlighting the rarity of such intervention in mob situations, others expressed frustration over the intolerance prevalent in society. “ASP Sherbano does deserve praise for saving that woman’s life because I’ve seen policemen standby or even contribute during crowd lynchings when similar cases have occurred in the past”, a user shared.
