Following a disappointing performance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, six prominent Pakistani cricketers, including captain Babar Azam, have opted to extend their stay abroad instead of returning home immediately.

The squad’s early elimination came after defeats to the USA and India, alongside narrow victories over Canada and Ireland. Their exit was sealed after just three group games, marking a frustrating end to their campaign.

Babar Azam, along with teammates Azam Khan, Haris Rauf, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim, have decided to take a break and are currently vacationing in London with their friends and families. This decision comes amid criticism and scrutiny from fans and analysts alike, reflecting the need for the players to recharge and regroup.

Newly-appointed coach Gary Kirsten did not hold back in his post-tournament assessment, pointing out a significant lack of unity within the team. Kirsten’s critique highlights internal issues that may have contributed to the team’s underwhelming performance.

As these cricketers unwind in London, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and coaching staff will need to address the underlying issues and strategize for future tournaments. The focus will now be on rebuilding team morale and ensuring a stronger, united front in upcoming challenges.
