Insider reports suggest that Mohsin Naqvi is inclined towards reinstating Babar Azam as the captain of the national team. Notably, upon assuming his position at the PCB, Naqvi reportedly showed little enthusiasm when Chief Selector Wahab Riaz attempted to introduce Muhammad Hafeez to the newly elected chairman.

Babar Azam had previously stepped down from Pakistan’s captaincy following the team’s disappointing performance in the ICC World Cup 2023. Despite suggestions from former PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf to continue leading the Test side, Azam opted to relinquish leadership roles across formats.
Following Azam’s resignation, Shan Masood and Shaheen Afridi took on the responsibility of leading the Test and T20I teams respectively. Concurrently, Mohammad Hafeez assumed the role of head coach after replacing Mickey Arthur.
