In recent news, former Pakistan cricket captain Babar Azam is poised to reclaim the helm amidst significant changes within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), spearheaded by the appointment of Mohsin Naqvi as its new chairman. Speculation surrounding Azam’s return as skipper has ignited discussions across various social media platforms.

New PCB Chairman, former team captain

Insider reports suggest that Mohsin Naqvi is inclined towards reinstating Babar Azam as the captain of the national team. Notably, upon assuming his position at the PCB, Naqvi reportedly showed little enthusiasm when Chief Selector Wahab Riaz attempted to introduce Muhammad Hafeez to the newly elected chairman.

Babar Azam had previously stepped down from Pakistan’s captaincy following the team’s disappointing performance in the ICC World Cup 2023. Despite suggestions from former PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf to continue leading the Test side, Azam opted to relinquish leadership roles across formats.

Following Azam’s resignation, Shan Masood and Shaheen Afridi took on the responsibility of leading the Test and T20I teams respectively. Concurrently, Mohammad Hafeez assumed the role of head coach after replacing Mickey Arthur.
