Babar Azam, the formidable batsman, has made a triumphant return to captaincy for Pakistan’s men’s cricket team, reclaiming his role in leading the Green Shirts in both ODIs and T20s. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officially declared Azam’s reinstatement through a post on social media platform X, announcing him as the white-ball captain.

As per the sources, this decision to reappoint Babar Azam as captain stemmed from a unanimous recommendation by the PCB’s selection committee, headed by Mohsin Naqvi. Azam’s journey to captaincy began in 2019 when he was appointed as the T20 captain, later assuming leadership across all formats in 2020.

However, he temporarily relinquished the position in November of the previous year following Pakistan’s disappointing performances in the Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup. During his hiatus, Shaheen Shah Afridi took over the T20 reins while Shan Masood led the Test team.
