In a remarkable race against time, Bangkok traffic officers successfully delivered a beating heart for a life-saving transplant with just minutes to spare. On July 27, the heart was transported from Don Mueang International Airport to Siriraj Hospital, covering a distance of 16 miles.
The heart was extracted in Phitsanulok province and needed to reach the hospital by 8 pm. Despite a delayed flight, it arrived in Bangkok at 7:22 pm. With only 38 minutes left, Police Colonel Jirakrit Jarunapat organized a motorcycle convoy for the urgent delivery, as an ambulance would take too long. The convoy navigated through heavy traffic and arrived at the hospital at 7:50 pm.

The heart was handed over to waiting surgeons, who successfully completed the transplant. This critical delivery marked the 100th heart that the Royal Thai Police have assisted in delivering for transplants, showcasing the importance of cooperation from road users who made way for the emergency vehicles. The recipient is now recovering in the hospital.
