Source: Dhaka Tribune

The interim government of Bangladesh has announced that new currency notes will be issued without the image of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the country’s founding father. The redesign will initially affect the 20, 100, 500, and 1,000 Takka denominations.

The Bangladesh Ministry of Finance, along with the Bangladesh Bank, confirmed the decision, signaling a major shift in the nation’s currency design. A letter dated September 29 has called for detailed design proposals, with plans for a phased redesign of all currency denominations.
