Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, was released from Adiala Jail on Thursday after being granted bail in a Toshakhana case. Her release comes after nearly nine months in detention.
Bushra was arrested on January 31 after both she and Imran Khan were sentenced to 14 years in jail for retaining valuable gifts, including a Bvlgari jewelry set, at a low price. The case alleged that this caused financial losses to the government.
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) approved her bail on Wednesday, and a special court issued her release orders the next day. PTI confirmed her safe return to Bani Gala and praised her bravery during her time in prison.
PTI leaders welcomed her release, with Chairman Gohar Khan calling her imprisonment “extremely difficult” and expressing hope for Imran Khan’s release soon.
