California-based startup Alef Aeronautics has made history by receiving approval from the USA Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the world’s first electric flying car. The vehicle called “Model A,” can travel on both roads and in the air with a road range of 200 miles and a flying range of 110 miles.
A car that flies and drives?
The Model A is fully electric and designed to carry up to two passengers. Its cabin is engineered in such a way that the driver will remain stable as the car flies and passengers can enjoy 180-plus-degree views. The company’s founder and CEO, Jim Dukhovny, has claimed that it’s easy to learn how to fly and drive a car and it takes only 15 minutes or less. The controls are simple: right, left, up, down, front, and back.
Dukhovny had envisioned that the flying car would help solve traffic woes but the vehicle’s uses are expanding beyond that. The company has already received nearly 500 bookings since starting pre-sales in 2022 indicating a growing demand for this futuristic mode of transportation.

At a cost of approximately PKR 83.87 million ($300,000), the Model A is not cheap but it offers a unique and exciting experience for those who can afford it. Alef Aeronautics aims to start delivering the vehicles to customers by the end of 2025.
This groundbreaking invention is a testament to the rapid advancement of technology and the ceaseless pursuit of innovation. Who knows what other futuristic vehicles we’ll see soon? Only time will tell.
