A local court in Sanghar, Sindh, has extended the physical remand of six individuals accused of brutally injuring a camel by chopping off its leg. The suspects were initially detained for four days, and on Thursday, their remand was extended for two additional days upon police request.
According to the Sanghar SSP, two of the accused, Abdul Shakoor Shar and Abid Shar, have reportedly confessed to their involvement during the investigation. The injured camel has been transferred to Karachi for specialized treatment.
The incident, which sparked outrage after a video of the camel went viral, involved a landowner in Sanghar’s Mund Jamrao village allegedly punishing the animal for straying onto his land to graze.
Soomer Khan, the camel’s owner, expressed his shock and confusion at the press club in Sanghar. “I don’t have any enemies and I can’t understand why this happened to my camel”, he stated.
