PMD Issues New Alert As Cyclone “Biparjoy” Changes Its Course & Moves Further Away From Karachi

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) earlier issued a new alert regarding the very severe cyclonic storm (VSCS) Biparjoy, stating that it has changed its course and is now moving further away from Karachi.

The earlier calculations

The earlier alert, issued this morning at 11:50 am, had reported the cyclone to be approximately 340km south-southwest of Karachi, 355km south-southwest of Thatta, and 275km south-southwest of Keti Bandar. However, the fresh warning indicates that the cyclone has shifted to a distance of about 370km south-southwest of Karachi, 355km south-southwest of Thatta, and 290km south-southwest of Keti Bandar.

In response to the potential threat, the Sindh government has taken proactive measures to ensure the safety of its residents. According to official reports, a total of 64,107 individuals have been successfully relocated to secure locations in Thatta, Sajawal, and Badin districts thus far.
