Daud Kim’s Plan For Mosque Construction In Korea Halted After Protests By Locals

In a surprising turn of events, Daud Kim’s plans to build a mosque on Yeongjong Island have been halted due to a wave of negative reactions from local residents. Daud Kim is a popular Korean Muslim YouTuber who gained a large following by sharing his experiences as a Muslim in Korea.

With more than 5.52 million subscribers on YouTube and 3.5 million followers on Instagram, he has significant influence in the online space.

It looks like Daud Kim’s influence was not enough to sway the sentiments of the local populace regarding his proposed religious site. The land in question, measuring 284.4 square meters, was acquired for 189.2 million won (approximately $136,500) with Kim initially paying a deposit of 20 million won and planning to settle the remainder the following month.

Following the backlash from the locals, both parties, Kim and the landowner, agreed to annul the contract. The landowner cited unawareness of Kim’s intentions to construct a mosque on the site. Kim has publicly addressed the issue through a video shared on his social media platforms, explaining the situation to his followers and expressing his concerns over the development.

The construction of the mosque on Yeongjong Island is a hot topic in South Korea with many locals expressing their concerns about the potential impact on the surrounding area. The protests have been ongoing with residents citing reasons such as traffic congestion and noise pollution as reasons for their opposition to the construction.
