Delivery Riders May Be Used for Terrorist Activities, Warn Karachi Police

Source: Business Recorder

Karachi police issued a threat alert on Thursday, warning of potential terrorist activities involving food delivery and courier riders. The alert specifically mentioned that the area around the Karachi Expo Centre, hosting the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2024, is highly vulnerable.

In an official letter, the deputy superintendent of police informed the additional inspector general that “HIA may carry out any terrorist activity by using Food Panda and courier riders.” To counter the threat, police were instructed to increase security, conduct thorough checks of delivery riders, and maintain strict vigilance near the Expo Centre.

IDEAS 2024, which began on Tuesday and ends on Friday, has attracted 350 delegations from 55 countries and 560 exhibitors from 41 nations. The event showcases both local and international defense equipment, with 55% of exhibitors from countries like Turkey, China, and the UK.
