Major Crisis: Dozens Of PIA Pilots Tender Their Resignations After Huge Cut In Salaries

Source: The Economic Times

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has been facing economic turmoil for quite some time, and to keep the airline afloat, the management had to make the difficult decision of cutting salaries by 35%. However, this decision didn’t go well with the pilots, and dozens of them resigned immediately, causing outrage among their representative organization, the Pakistan Airline Pilots Association (PALPA).

PALPA condemns the decision

The pilots argue that such a significant pay cut would not only affect their livelihood but also compromise their ability to perform their duties safely. The pilots have been working tirelessly, especially during the pandemic, to ensure the safe and timely travel of passengers. Hence, the sudden salary cut came as a shock to them.

The PALPA has condemned the decision of the PIA management and has demanded an immediate reversal of the salary cut. The association argues that the airline should find alternative ways to deal with the economic crisis without compromising the salaries of pilots, who are the backbone of the airline.
