Dr. Zakir Naik Declares YouTube Earnings as Haram Due to Ad Content

Source: Dialogue Pakistan

Islamic scholar Dr. Zakir Naik has warned content creators that YouTube’s monetization program is “haram” (forbidden) according to Islamic principles. Speaking in Port City, Naik expressed concerns over ad content, particularly those featuring women and music, which are difficult to control. “Even if you block alcohol ads, you can’t stop ads with women in revealing clothes,” he explained.

Dr. Naik, who has millions of followers, emphasized the ethical issues with generating revenue from such ads, noting that many channels resharing his content use inappropriate thumbnails to boost views. He also mentioned that his videos have been shadow-banned, but audience engagement has increased since his arrival in Pakistan.

Encouraging the questioner to focus on faith, Naik assured them that leaving YouTube earnings behind would bring greater blessings and not harm their livelihoods. This marks Naik’s first visit to Pakistan in three decades, as he continues his lecture tour while residing in Malaysia due to legal challenges in India under the Modi-led government.
