In a recent incident on a train in India, an elderly Muslim man, identified as Haji Ashraf Maniyar, was brutally attacked by a group of passengers who accused him of carrying beef.
This assault, which occurred on an express train near Igatpuri in Maharashtra, follows another tragic event where a man was lynched over similar allegations just a day earlier.
Four individuals have been arrested in connection with the attack and were granted bail on the same day, with each bail set at Rs.15,000.
The Thane Government Railway Police (GRP) filed a First Information Report (FIR) but did not include charges such as attempted murder, despite requests from the victim. This decision has provoked significant public backlash.

The incident has drawn criticism from local politicians and activists, including MLA Jitendra Awhad and All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) President Asaduddin Owaisi, who have condemned the attack and raised concerns about the handling of hate crimes and violence against minorities.
The GRP is under scrutiny for its response, as over a dozen individuals are reportedly involved, with many still not apprehended.
