The founder of Emaar and Noon, Mohammed Alabbar recently announced his plans for a new tower in Dubai: the Dubai Creek Tower. Dubbed as the “female” version of the iconic Burj Khalifa, this tower will be part of a mall located in Dubai Creek Harbour. What makes this mall unique is that customers will be able to drive electric cars through it, a one-of-a-kind concept.

During the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival (SEF) 2024, Alabbar shared insights into the company’s decisions and setbacks. He explained why they scrapped plans for a one-kilometer-tall tower, stating that the focus shifted to projects like the Dubai Creek Tower, which would offer a similar allure to investors but with a different approach.
Alabbar emphasized the challenges of running a publicly listed company, highlighting the need for transparency and accountability every 90 days. Despite the challenges, he expressed appreciation for the discipline it brought and how it contributed to personal growth.
Dubai’s next ‘big thing’
The Dubai Creek Tower will be the centerpiece of the Dubai Creek Harbour project, which is envisioned as a new urban center in Dubai. The project encompasses six million square meters and Alabbar hinted that the tower’s design would be unveiled soon, marking another milestone in Dubai’s architectural landscape.
