Engin Altan Duzyatan Credits Pakistanis for Global Popularity as Ertugrul Actor

Renowned Turkish actor Engin Altan Duzyatan, famous for his role as Ertugrul in the hit series Diriliş: Ertuğrul, acknowledged Pakistan and its people for significantly contributing to his global popularity. Speaking at the Red Sea International Film Festival, Duzyatan said the show gained unparalleled attention in Pakistan compared to other regions, including Turkiye.

“The people of Pakistan have so much love for this character. It’s a different ballgame in Pakistan,” Duzyatan stated, adding that the role of Ertugrul had a profound impact on his career while also allowing him to shape the character due to limited historical information.

Duzyatan also expressed a desire to play Mustafa Kemal Ataturk in the future and highlighted his transition from acting to producing. He noted that producing documentaries and other projects required as much creativity as acting.

The session also featured actor Nurgul Yesilcay, who discussed her own challenging roles and experiences. Following their talk, a documentary titled Tales on the Banks of Bosphorus showcased the meteoric rise of Turkish dramas from an industry worth $300,000 to $1 billion today, captivating audiences in 150 countries.

The documentary emphasized how Turkish dramas gained global appeal, highlighting their dubbing, music, and storytelling as key factors in their success.
