One of Pakistan’s finest batters, Fakhar Zaman recently completed 3,000 one-day international (ODI) runs at Pindi Cricket Stadium against New Zealand, setting a new record as the fastest Asian to do so in 67 innings, after scoring 98 runs against the Kiwis in the second ODI.

Fakhar Zaman’s exceptional performance against the Kiwis

There’s no doubt that Zaman has shown incredible form against New Zealand during the ongoing five-match ODI series and was instrumental in leading his team to victory in the first fixture by smashing a century. Earlier this year, while representing Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Zaman set another record by hitting the 100 sixes in the history of the tournament.

The batsman has represented Pakistan in three Test matches, where he scored 192 runs, 76 T20I matches, where he amassed 1,433 runs, and 67 ODIs, where he smashed more than 3,000 runs. His exceptional performance has set him apart from other cricketers and he is recognized as one of the finest batsmen in the sport.

The men of 3000

The huge achievement equaled the record previously held by Shai Hope of West Indies, who also scored 3,000 ODI runs in the same number of innings. However, Hashim Amla of South Africa holds the record of reaching this milestone the quickest, doing so in just 57 innings. In contrast, Babar Azam, Pakistan’s skipper, accomplished this milestone in 68 innings, while West Indies’ great Viv Richards did so in 98 innings.
