In a heartwarming display of religious harmony and compassion, a temple in Mylapore, Chennai, is breaking barriers by propagating the teachings of Sufi saint Shahenshah Baba Nebhraj Sahib and serving iftar meals for the past four decades.

Sufi influence in unexpected places!

Dada Ratanchand, a Hindu migrant from Sindh, found solace in Chennai and established the Sufidar Trust, dedicated to spreading the message of love, unity, and spirituality. The temple’s walls are a testament to this commitment, adorned with portraits of various religious figures.

From Hindu saints to Sufi saints, Jesus Christ to Mother Mary, Guru Nanak to Sikh gurus, leaders from Radhaswami and Chidakashi sects and Sai Baba, these portraits symbolize the essence of religious pluralism and coexistence.

For four decades, the Sufi Dar Trust has upheld a unique tradition of preparing iftar meals. This practice was initiated when the Arcot royal family, tracing their lineage to Caliph Umar, inspected the temple kitchen established by Dada Ratanchand.

Their visit not only endorsed the temple’s commitment to cleanliness and hygiene but also marked a significant moment in the history of religious harmony and understanding. This remarkable endeavor underscores the transformative power of love and acceptance, transcending religious boundaries to foster a community built on mutual respect and understanding.
