A two-hectare plot in Kotana village, Baghpat, has been auctioned for ₹1.38 crore. This property, declared enemy property in 2010, was associated with former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf.
The land, located in Baraut tehsil, was under the Custodian Of Enemy Property, a department of India’s Ministry of Home Affairs. While Musharraf, who was born in Delhi and passed away in 2023, never lived there, his grandfather, Syed Musharrafuddin, did.
Baraut’s Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Amar Verma, noted that Musharraf’s uncle, Humayun, resided in Kotana before Independence.

Initially valued at ₹39.06 lakh, the land was auctioned on Thursday evening. Baghpat’s Additional District Magistrate, Pankaj Verma, explained that the auction followed regulations and that the land, listed under ‘Nuru,’ had no direct connection to Musharraf. The auction proceeds will be deposited into the Ministry of Home Affairs’ account.
