In a remarkable achievement, Ghanaian toddler Ace-Liam Nana Sam Ankrah has been officially recognized as the world’s youngest male painter by Guinness World Records (GWR). At the tender age of one year and 152 days, Ace-Liam has already captivated the art world with his unique and vibrant creations.

I got it from my mama!

The mother, Chantelle Kuukua Eghan, an artist with eight years of experience, expressed her immense pride. She hopes that her son will make a significant impact in the art community. “He already knows what colors complement each other”, she told international media, recounting how she first noticed his talent when he was just six months old.

The official recognition came after a five-month wait for GWR to ratify their record attempt. Ace-Liam’s work was showcased at the Museum of Science and Technology in Accra, where he sold nine out of ten displayed pieces. His creations have even caught the attention of Ghana’s First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, who commissioned a piece from the young prodigy.

To qualify for the record, GWR required Ace-Liam’s work to be part of a public professional exhibition and meet professional standards. Plus, it was necessary to present the evidence that he completed the work independently.

Ace-Liam’s journey into painting began serendipitously. Ms. Eghan, while working on a commission for Miss Universe 2023, needed a way to keep her son occupied. She spread a canvas on the floor with some paint, allowing Ace-Liam to explore his creativity. His first piece, aptly named “The Crawl,” marked the start of his promising career.

The young artist, who turns two in July, has sold 15 paintings and plans to host an auction soon. His work is characterized by bright colors and dynamic abstract images, reflecting his curiosity and discovery.

Ms. Eghan hopes to secure an international scholarship for Ace-Liam to further develop his talent. And encourage other parents to nurture their children’s abilities from an early age. For now, Ace-Liam continues to create his masterpieces in his own studio, built by his dedicated mother.
