Karachi is bracing for heavy rainfall as a monsoon weather system is set to hit the city later today or tonight, according to ARY News. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reports that monsoon currents from the Bay of Bengal are advancing towards central and southern Pakistan.
Residents of Karachi have already experienced light drizzle, with clouds covering the city. The PMD forecasts up to 100mm of rain in Karachi and other districts of Sindh starting this evening. Rainfall is expected to continue until Tuesday, with the potential for thunderstorms.
Several districts across Sindh, including Mithi, Sanghar, Umarkot, Tharparkar, and others, will experience thundershowers. The monsoon system may also lead to urban flooding in low-lying areas of northeast and south Punjab, Peshawar, and lower Sindh. Flash flooding is a concern in local nullahs and streams in Kashmir, northeast Punjab, and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
