Earlier this week, Hollywood icon Tom Cruise was honored by the United States Navy with the Distinguished Public Service (DPS) Award, the highest civilian accolade.
The ceremony took place in London, where Cruise was recognized for his dedication and significant contributions to the Navy through his film work, CNN reported.
The award was presented by Secretary of the US Navy Carlos Del Toro, who praised Cruise for his influence and role in promoting the Navy and Marine Corps. “His work has inspired generations to serve in our Navy and Marine Corps,” Del Toro stated.
Cruise, known for his roles in “Top Gun” and “Top Gun: Maverick,” has consistently portrayed the bravery, dedication, and skill of Navy aviators. These films have had a lasting impact on public perception and recruitment for the armed forces.
