Pakistan’s cricket captain, Babar Azam, exuded confidence as he addressed the media before the team’s departure to India for the ICC Men’s World Cup. Despite a recent setback in the Asia Cup, where they finished fourth and saw their ICC ODI ranking drop to second, Babar Azam expressed optimism about their chances in the upcoming tournament.

“We will try to play our best”

“Our morale is very high, and we have confidence. We will try to play our best. I request all of you to pray for the team,” Babar stated during the pre-departure press conference in Lahore. He acknowledged the lessons learned from the Asia Cup and emphasized that the team’s approach and planning for the World Cup would be different.

One of the key areas of concern for Pakistan has been their middle-over bowling, but Babar Azam expressed faith in his players and their ability to rise to the occasion. He highlighted the fact that this is the same squad that had previously made Pakistan the number one ODI team.

“I spoke to Shadab Khan and we gave confidence to each other. I and Shadab know that we aren’t bowling well in the middle overs, but I trust my players more than I trust myself,” added the skipper.
