In an unexpected turn of events, Saad Hashmani has taken social media by storm with a bold and ambitious statement. Hashmani declared, “If Ali Sheikhani Buys K-Electric, I Will Buy PIA and Start a Free Airline”. Hashmani made this daring comment on his social profile and has quickly become a hot topic of discussion.
The statement was made in response to a video featuring Pakistani-American businessman Ali Sheikhani, expressing his interest in acquiring K-Electric. K-Electric is one of Pakistan’s major utility companies, and Sheikhani’s potential acquisition has already garnered significant attention.
Earlier this week, Ali Sheikhani took to Instagram to underscore the detrimental effects of load shedding on the city’s residents. He emphasized the link between power cuts and the increase in crimes such as robbery and mobile theft, resulting in numerous fatalities.
Ali Sheikhani, who resides in Houston, Texas, and serves as the chairman of the Sheikhani Group of Companies. He stated that his intention is not to profit from Karachi, but to serve the middle-class community of his hometown.
His announcement comes in the wake of K-Electric’s recent request to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA). The request mentioned an increase in the base electricity tariff in Karachi by Rs.10, raising it from Rs.33 to Rs.44.
This hike is part of K-Electric’s seven-year investment plan to establish 14 new grid stations. And lay 550 kilometers of transmission lines in the city.
