Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has provided assurance to the nation that his government will transfer power to an interim setup next month as their tenure comes to an end.

During a live address on Thursday, Shehbaz Sharif stated, “In August 2023, we will give responsibility to the interim government.” He reiterated the circumstances under which the coalition government, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) comprising 13 political parties, came into power last year in April.

Highlighting their achievements, he mentioned that in the span of 15 months, the coalition government had managed to clean up the mess left behind by the previous administration, resolving economic and foreign relations challenges.

He emphasized that their focus was on saving the state rather than playing politics. The Prime Minister’s commitment to a peaceful transition of power to an interim government reflects a democratic approach, ensuring continuity and stability in the governance of the country.
