The world is aware of the tense political relations between Pakistan and India and how brutal the consequences can be at times for civilians. Well, recently, India has extended an invitation to Pakistan’s ruling body for the high-level conference that is to take place in the country.
PM Shehbaz Sharif invited to India
According to Indian media reports, India has invited Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to attend the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meetings. The SCO summit will take place after three months in May and the venue will be Goa.
Earlier this week, on Wednesday, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto and Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang were handed over the invitations for the SCO summit. Previously, India had already invited FM Bilawal Bhutto and the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial but there is no official confirmation whether they will take part in the event or not.
FM Bilawal Bhutto yet to respond to the invitation
After the former FM Hina Rabbani Khar’s visit to India in 2011, it will be the first such visit after a decade if Bilawal Bhutto decides to mark his attendance at the SCO meeting.
Other than Pakistan and India, the members of the SCO also include China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The high-level summit will happen in the first week of May.
